Buhar 17bar  Red EPDM Steel Steam hose BS5342/2

Buhar 17bar is suitable for use with saturated and superheated steam up to a temperature of 203°C.

Manufactured using special EPDM compound that gives outstanding resistance to temperature, UV and Ozone. Cover is pin pricked for steam use.

Referred to as a ‘ steel’ steam hose, Buhar 17 is reinforced using high tensile steel wire braiding for additional safety and pressure rating

Complies to British Standard BS 5342 Type 2

Buhar 17 is used extensively in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical Plants, Refineries for all superheated steam applications.

Buhar 17 should only be fitted using dedicated Boss type steam fittings or flanges. The fittings must incorporate safety retaining collars which accommodate a specially designed Boss type interlocking bolted clamp.

We do not recommend swaging of Buhar 17 under any circumstances

Clamps should be checked before use to ensure torgue values are correct. They should also be checked for any damage to the nuts, bolts or casting. Clamps should be replaced immediately if there are any signs of damage

Steam clamps are single use only and should not be re-used as they are designed to deform to fit the outside of the hose. Re-torquing used clamps can cause stress fractures and subsequent clamp failure

Buhar 17 should always be drained after use. Steam condensate, when re-energised can cause significant damage to the hose liner in what as  known as the ‘popcorn’ effect
