Chemical Hose

What is a Chemical Hose?

A chemical hose is a specially designed hose used to safely transfer a wide variety of corrosive and hazardous liquids. These hoses are manufactured with chemically resistant linings and reinforced layers to handle high pressures, extreme temperatures, and the abrasive nature of many chemical compounds.

Our chemical hoses are suitable for transferring:

  • Acids
  • Alkalis
  • Solvents
  • Fuels
  • Industrial cleaning agents
  • Other hazardous fluids

Depending on the application, a chemical hose may need to be resistant to one specific group of chemicals or offer broad-spectrum chemical compatibility. That's why we supply a wide variety of materials and constructions to suit diverse industries.

Types of Chemical Hose

Not all chemicals are alike, and neither are chemical hoses. At Integraflex, we offer a wide range of solutions designed to handle everything from mild detergents to aggressive acids. Here’s a breakdown of the most common types of chemical hose materials and the advantages of each.

Rubber Chemical Hose

Rubber chemical hoses are highly durable and flexible, making them ideal for a wide range of fluid transfer tasks. Most often manufactured from EPDM, XLPE or UHMWPE-lined, they are reinforced with textile braiding or steel wire. Rubber chemical hoses are designed for the safe transfer of harsh chemicals and liquids and are therefore commonly used in industrial applications, including chemical processing, agriculture, food and beverage and marine applications. Tasks usually include: tank transfer, truck loading, and chemical dosing systems.

Pros: Good abrasion resistance, flexible, suitable for many chemicals.
Cons: May degrade over time with strong acids or solvents.

PTFE-Lined Chemical Hose

PTFE-lined hoses offer excellent chemical resistance and are a popular choice for chemical resistant hose applications involving aggressive solvents, high temperatures, or high purity requirements. Also known as Teflon, PTFE’s extreme chemical resistance makes these chemical hoses ideal for handling or transporting corrosive or aggressive chemicals and are therefore commonly used in chemical processing, pharmaceutical and food and beverage industries due to the inertness, high temperature tolerance and non-stick properties.

Pros: Exceptional chemical and temperature resistance, non-stick surface, suitable for food and pharmaceutical use.

Cons: Less flexible than rubber hoses, higher cost.

Composite Chemical Hose

A flexible chemical hose option made from multiple layers of polypropylene, PTFE, and stainless-steel wire helixes. These are ideal for loading and unloading a wide range of hazardous liquids and often used in
chemical and fuel transfer, handling LPG and transferring petroleum products in refineries and distribution facilities.

Pros: Lightweight, flexible, suitable for a wide chemical spectrum, including fuels and acids.

Cons: Not suitable for high pressure applications, can be more delicate than rubber.

Stainless Steel Chemical Hose

Best suited for extreme environments, a stainless-steel chemical hose offers excellent performance in high-pressure and high-temperature applications, especially when handling highly corrosive substances like sulfuric or nitric acid.

Pros: Very durable, excellent resistance to heat and corrosion, long service life.

Cons: Heavy, less flexible, more expensive.

Whether you're looking for a heavy-duty industrial chemical hose, a highly chemical resistant hose, a flexible chemical hose for adaptable setups, or a durable acid hose for handling aggressive fluids, Integraflex has a solution tailored to your needs.

Industries that use Chemical Hose

Our chemical hoses are used across a wide range of
industries and environments where safe chemical transfer is essential:

  • Chemical Manufacturing

Transfer of raw chemicals, waste by-products, and solvents within production lines.

  • Pharmaceuticals & Laboratories

Handling precise volumes of chemicals in controlled
environments where purity and safety are crucial.

  • Agriculture & Fertiliser Distribution

Spraying and transferring chemical fertilisers, pesticides, and herbicides.

  • Waste Management & Treatment Plants

Transfer of cleaning agents, acids, or neutralisers used in industrial water treatment and sanitation.

  • Oil & Gas Industry

Used for transferring drilling fluids, solvents, and
hydrocarbons with corrosive properties.

  • Transport & Tanker Unloading

Our industrial chemical hoses are suitable for road
tankers, IBCs, and mobile transfer units, ensuring safe loading and unloading operations.

Choosing the right Chemical Hose

Selecting the right chemical hose involves more than matching the hose size to a fitting. Chemical compatibility, pressure, temperature, and flexibility are all important factors to consider.

  1. Chemical Compatibility: The most critical factor. Always match the hose material with the chemicals you'll be transferring. We offer hoses lined with: UHMWPE and LDPE, making it perfect for water treatment and sewage treatment.
  2. Pressure Rating: Choose a hose rated above the system's working pressure. Industrial environments often require hoses capable of 10–20 bar or higher.
  3. Flexibility: For mobile operations or tight spaces, a flexible chemical hose makes handling much easier without sacrificing durability.
  4. Temperature Resistance: Ensure the hose material can handle the operating temperature of the fluids involved, especially with hot chemical processes.
  5. Reinforcement & Durability: For high-pressure or suction operations, select a chemical resistant hose with textile or wire reinforcement for added strength and crush resistance.
